Newman’s Own lives up to their motto, "Shameless exploitation in pursuit of the common good," by donating 100% of their after-tax profits to charities throughout North America and abroad. As a distributor of their dressings, pasta sauces and salsas, Horizon is one of the conduits for their generosity, which allowed us to choose who would benefit from this year’s gift of $10,000. We chose to support our long-time community partner, the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre. Since 1978, DEWC has offered refuge and basic needs, as well as counselling, advocacy, and social, educational and referral services, to women and children in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. |
| Burnaby, BC | June 2011 Another successful Bike To Work Week Once again, the Horizon team celebrated Bike To Work Week (May 30–June 5, 2011), signing up pedal-power within our ranks and facilitating a donation of products from Probar for commuter stations. Additionally, we continued our support of our workers who choose alternate transportation methods by doubling our transit subsidy! |
